But, You’re Missing It All
You are so angry
Lashing out at everyone around you
Flailing extremities
Like a swinging coat of armor
A defense mechanism
Protecting you from repeated harm
From abandonment, disappointment,
Neglect and abuse
Tightly holding a thick cloak around your vulnerable heart
You spin the cycle forward, generation to generation
With sharp tones and clenched fists
Spewing cold daggers into your children’s hearts
You do know the energy you put out is what comes back, right?
Do you have any idea what you’re missing?
I mean, you could be bathing in love!
Sharing deep intimate connections
Creating beautiful memories
Diving deep into this life,
This one, precious, short, magnificent life
Choosing the path of healing is hard
Exposing all of that hurt, hurts
But letting those terrible wounds fester just keeps us in darkness
And there is so much light in life
But, you’re missing it all
Tend to your heart
Be kind to your soul
Your soul has so much more to give than this
Your soul has so much more to live than this
